Golden Age of Rock 'n' Roll 000
In this series, the Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll, I hope we will get right to the point: where rock music came from.
However, you can enjoy the music without knowing its history, and it is not the kind of music about which you will swallow what someone else wrote, since it is only Rock ‘n’ Roll. You can still have a lot of fun listening to the music whether you know its history or not. Someone like me, who is going to write a long story about the music, perhaps should not write like this, though.
Here in Japan, however, I sometimes encounter what is written about rock music. It is about something so trivial, so small matters that I find them really strange. I’d rather start a series about the rock history than see wrong but convenient information about the music prevail. It is for this reason that our version of rock history, the Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll, begins. It is simpler, and easier to understand.
It is years since alternatives are rampant. We live in an era where the real thing becomes an alternative, and vice versa. The Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll may start as a counter to those alternatives, but it is going to be genuine, the mainstream. “Take back the classics” is our motto. I really hope that more of you will be a rock profligate, who makes his/her own life a little more meaningful. This is where the GAORR comes, the ultimate rock reference.
